Sunshine Coast Table Tennis Club The Club The Sunshine Coast Table Tennis Club started in 1975 with a few people and self-made tables. From these humble beginnings the club grew, incorporated and in 2003 moved to Nambour High School. To accommodate our growth to more than 60 members of all ages, we have moved our competition to the brand new Sports Stadium of the University of the Sunshine Coast. This move has enabled us to play on eight competition and four training/social tables. Social Play and Training Currently four tables have been allocated for new members and social players from 7:15pm on Tuesdays at the Sports Stadium of the USC. Most evenings an experienced trainer is available to improve the play of members of all ages. For those who just want to have a sniff of the excitement, some bats are available as well. During competitions, social and new players may have the opportunity to fill in for absent competition players. Fixture Competitions Play starts at 7:30pm, however, players are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes earlier to set up the tables. Players can decide on which competition to play. There is no need to commit to all competitions. Tournaments Open tournaments (doubles/singles) and Closed tournaments (club members) are played at scheduled times during the year. The 2009 Open Championship was be held on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th May 2009, and was a great success. See the News page for more information. Future events will be posted here when dates are confirmed. Social Functions The end of the year usually sees a Christmas gathering for members and their families. We are also planning a number of informal functions like bowling, bushwalking and BBQs during the year. Suggestions are welcome. Results Don't forget to view the results page!! We hope to have this updated weekly, with a running table of current rankings for the season. The Winter 2009 season results are now available. |
