News WE HAVE MOVED, to Meridan State College 214 Parklands Boulevard, Meridan Plains Qld 4551 Sunshine Coast Open Championships The SCTTC Open Championships was held on 24th and 25th July. We had 69 entries from all over the state, with players from Bundaberg, Rockhampton, GoldCoast and Brisbane and surrounding areas. The Mens open was an exciting finale, with Paul Pinkewich just beating the Chilean favourite Bruno Levis. See the links on the main page for the results. Committee The 2010 AGM elected the Committee for 2010, they are: President : Paul Green Vice President: Dale Fenwick Treasurer: Michael Wilson Sectretary: Keny Hay Assistant Secretary: Colin Rule Committee: Gerrit Falia, Christian Huen, Ian Oakley, Glen Price, Steve Rowson, Cam Warren Club Fees The SCTTC Committee has decided to only charge a basic CLUB MEMBERSHIP fee of $5.00 and more fairly charge a fee per playing season to accommodate players who are unable to commit to a full fixture year of 4 seasons. Fees are $15 per season, payable on the first night of each season. OR $40 per year, payable before 9th Feb 2010, giving a saving of $20. Table Tennis Queensland registration fees are mandatory and cover play insurance: $24.20 : Social, no concessions $47.30 : Club Fixtures, Club Open Championships, State Championships (Concession $39.60) $89.10 : National and International Championships (Concession 75.90) Nightly Fees $9 per Player for Fixtures $7 Concession (Pensioners) $5 Concession (Students) $5 each for family of 3 or more $6 Practice Tables At the end of each night, we request that everyone assists in putting away the tables. 2009 Open Competition The 2009 Open Competition results can be viewed here. The Referees report also makes very good reading and can be viewed here. Some fantastic results culminated in 2 categories being won by Sunshine Coast players. Ian Oakley and Pieter Poldervaart defied the odds (and age) to beat fellow Sunshine Coast player Asif Khattak and his partner in a gruelling 5 setter, 11-7 in the 5th. In The Over 50 Doubles, Martin Tribe and his partner showed that all the practice paid off, beating the top seeds in a tight 5 setter. Sunshine Coast players also claimed 4 runners up awards. In the Restricted Doubles, Dale Fenwick and Paul Green menaced the number 2 seeds in the semi-final before just falling short in the final against the number 1 seeds. In B Grade, Noosa stalwart Peng Yu did everything but win the final, narrowly going down 11-7 in the 5th set. In the U18 Singles, Dale Fenwick, who breezed through the rounds, struck a dogged opponent in the final.
